Since social media occupies such a crucial role in today's world, especially for entrepreneurs, building your personal brand is incredibly important. Not only are you competing with other people's skills, knowledge or experience, you're also competing with their ability to market themselves. In our experience, your product (whether it be a physical product or a service or you as a personality) is only half the battle - the way you market it is almost important than what it actually is. It's quite a scary thought, but it's a reality we all must adapt to.
Luckily, one of our wonderful matcha mates, Helen Roe, has stepped in with some top tips from her extensive experience. Helen is a Business Growth Strategist and Success Coach for women who want to lead an extraordinary life, doing work they love. She helps women entrepreneurs step into their value, package their expertise, present it and generate lasting profit (but her tips are useful for EVERYONE including the men in our matcha family).
Helen has over sixteen years in international marketing management and business development with global brands, including a role as Business Development Manager for worldwide superstar Nivea. She now helps driven entrepreneurs around the world to cultivate joy, connection, and abundance in their business and life. Here are her top 10 tips for building your personal brand - her contact details are below. Enjoy!

Marketing YOU: How to Build Your Personal Brand
Did you know that 92% of two year olds in the U.S. already have a digital footprint? A profile of images, interests and moments, defining who they are and how they are perceived by the world.
It’s no surprise then that we are all personal brands, whether we choose to be or not. Our image and what others perceive us to be is already formulated. It’s up to us if we want to influence that and use it for a purpose. A purpose like marketing YOU.
Your personal brand is more than just a logo. It’s your voice, your style. It’s what people say about you when you leave the room. Here are 10 steps to skyrocket marketing YOU and help build your personal brand.
Step 1: Have a Purpose
What’s your mission, your big why? What do you want to be known for and why? Get clarity on this and the rest follows. Keep this top of mind in everything you do.
Step 2: Be the Real You
Authentic. It’s cliché but it’s true. Be original and stay true to you. If you’re trying to be someone else, it shows. It’s ok to get inspiration from others whilst you’re on that discovery journey but always come back to the real you.
Step 3: Differentiate Yourself from Your Brand.
Your personal brand is not ALL of you. You get to keep some of you for you, your loved ones, your friends and family. You are not the product, you are the channel for that product.
Step 4: Share Your Story
This is the part that differentiates you. It’s also the part that people connect with and love to hear. Everyone loves a good story so share yours to inspired and connect.
Step 5: Keep it Consistent
Keep your social profiles and presence consistent across all channels. It builds the know, like and trust factor.
Step 6: Do Your Research
Get clear on who you serve, your target market. Think niche. The more specific the better. As marketing guru Seth Godin says ‘find your own kind of weird.’
Step 7: Point of Difference
Who needs another vanilla? Find your unique selling point, your essence and build on this. The most original intellectual property you can adopt is your own.
Step 8: Offer True Value
Give and then give some more. It’s the law of divine compensation. Simple.
Offer great content and value that aligns with the ethics of your brand.
Step 9: Adjust Your Sails
It’s okay to grow and change and course correct along the way. Growth brings expansion and change, so embrace it. It’s leading to great things.
Step 10: Play Full Out
It’s easy to show up as your best self when everything is going great in life. But the true sign of a sustainable personal brand (you!) is when you always get up, dress up and show up.
BONUS Step
Have Fun!
Above all, have fun! Don’t forget to enjoy the journey, as much as the destination.
